SHAKESPEARE AND THE TRUE TRAGEDY OF RICHARD THE THIRD.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article analyzes the relationship between dramatist and poet William Shakespeare's play "Richard III" and the anonymous play "The True Tragedy of Richard the Third" which was first published in 1594. Parts of "The True Tragedy" are so similar to "Richard III" that it is clear that one of these two plays borrowed from the other. If that original play preceded "Richard III", then it could have been an important source for Shakespeare. But if the original "True Tragedy" followed Richard III, then it probably borrowed from Shakespeare's play.
