- Authors
Balajee, Adayabalam S.; Turner, Helen C.; Wilkins, Ruth C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the field of radiation biodosimetry, which involves measuring biological responses to estimate the absorbed radiation dose in exposed humans. The article highlights the current biodosimetry tools used, including prodromal signs/symptoms, hematological analysis, cytogenetics, omics, and physical dosimetry. The special issue contains reviews and research articles on various aspects of biodosimetry, including biomarkers, high-throughput automation, and the need for validation and testing of existing tools. The article also emphasizes the importance of considering confounding factors such as age, sex, and genetic predisposition in dose prediction accuracy. The authors hope that this special issue will inspire further research in the field to protect human safety and health from radiation exposures.
