- Abstract
The article discusses the development of teaching materials for an elementary school science program at the State University of New York in Stony Brook, New York in 1964. The program was funded by the National Science Foundation. It aims to understand the practical teaching problems created by the units in several nearby school districts. The study was led by eight teachers from local elementary and junior high schools. The group starts their study with the assumptions that time is to be devoted to the teaching of science from elementary through high school.
