- Abstract
The article examines the trends of science education in the People's Republic of China over the past 30 years, describes the present status of the discipline, and comments on its outlook. In the early and mid-fifties, the emphasis of education was on expertness and the curriculum of the 12 year middle school was heavily focused with science studies. In the year 1960, educators urged a set back to pre-1958 standards and practices because they believed that the teachings in the middle schools do not represent the science and technology of today. As a result, curricula were revised and a new academic was placed on expertness in scientific and technological subjects. At present, the quality of science education in the country is increasingly becoming a priority.
