- Abstract
Down Syndrome (DS) is a genetic condition caused by a change in chromosomes. The individual with DS can demonstrate implications for the possibility of programming communication and speech movements, their development can be challenging for many children with Down syndrome (T21). This study aims to report the speech therapy intervention aimed at treating children with apraxia of speech associated with Down syndrome. The present work refers to a study that used the methods of integrative literature review, using articles, theses and dissertations from indexed journals existing in online databases such as Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS). The results showed that after the intervention, non-verbal praxis movements demonstrated better scores, with more considerable effects. Thus, the results were significant in terms of stimulation for speech development, with results achieved in the glottal phoneme/h/and bilabial phonemes/p, b and m/. In this way, it is considered that satisfactory results were achieved, offering important data for the best performance of the speech therapist in the area.
