- Abstract
Over the years, human activities have promoted an intense change on the planet through the various economic activities that pollute and transform the environment, contribute to deforestation and pollution of water resources, causing severe impacts on water. Since this is an essential resource, society as a whole becomes co-responsible for its management and preservation, whose water quality standards change according to the types of use. In view of this, it was developed as a scientific research practice within the scope of the discipline Quality Management and Conservation of Water Resources linked to the Postgraduate Program in Environmental Sciences of the State University of Pará - UEPA, a research with the objective of analyzing the quality of surface water and discuss the levels of bacteriological contamination in the waters of the Tucunduba creek. The Study has an exploratory character, with a quali-quantitative approach. To support the microbiological laboratory analysis, carried out at the UEPA Amazon Water Quality Laboratory, the samples were collected directly from the Igarapé Tucunduba, subsequently analyzed, according to parameters of CONAMA resolution 357/2005, at points P1 and P2, P1 (S = 01° 28' 22" 8 thousandths; W= 48° 26' 53" 8 thousandths) and P2 (S= 01° 28' 23"; W= 48° 26' 53" 8 thousandths), on August 11, 2022, high tide, non-rainy period. The results showed the following data: Total coliforms (NMP/100ML) >2419.6; Thermotolerant coliforms (NMP/100ML) >2419.6; Escherichia Coli (NMP/100ML) >2419.6. It was noted that the established limits, as recommended in Resolution 357/05, for classifying fresh waters, class II, are outside the standards. Through the parameters investigated and considered above the established limit, it is concluded that the waters of the Tucunduba creek should not be used for direct and indirect uses. It is necessary, its management by competent bodies in order to minimize possible damages to the society that live around it.
