- Abstract
The article presents research on neurodegeneration in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) patients, with a focus on C9orf72 hypermethylation and how it protects against expansion-associated pathology in ALS/FTD. Topics include hexanucleotide repeat expansions of C9orf72 as a genetic cause of ALS, the genetic aspects of motor neuron diseases, and the epigenetics of frontotemporal lobar degeneration.
