- Abstract
The article presents a research study on the relocation of the Qikirtamiut Indians in the Northern part of the archipelago of the Belcher Islands, Hudson Bay, Nunavut, in 1971, and on the contemporary community dynamics linked to the moving of the families. According to the article, the forced migrations of Inuit populations dating from the 1950s had a significant impact on contemporary identity aspects and are at the origin of new migrations and appropriation of the territory at a community and regional level.
