- Abstract
This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of different types and combinations of additives on anaerobic digestion (AD) using wheat straw as raw material. Effects of seven exogenous additives which include ferric oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4 nanoparticles, NPS-Fe3O4), ferric oxide (Fe2O3 nanoparticles, NPS-Fe3O4), ferric oxide nanoparticles (NPS-Fe2O3), Fe3O4, Fe2O3, ferrous chloride (FeCl2), hemin, and saponin (Ginsenoside Rg1, Rg1) on methane production in AD with different concentrations and matching methods were studied. The results showed that the addition of each fermentation aid alone can significantly increase the cumulative methane yield of AD, and the mixed addition of fermentation additives was not as good as the individual addition effect. Among them, the addition of 100 mg/L of Fe2O3 had the best effect on the improvement of methane yield in the straw AD process, and the cumulative methane yield increased by 86% compared with the blank group, reaching 207 mL/g. The best effect of mixed fermentation additives was 100 mg/L FeCl2 + 1 mg/L hemin, and the cumulative methane yield of this group was 70% higher than that of the blank group, reaching 192 mL/g. The fermentation additives used in this experiment improved the anaerobic digestion efficiency of wheat straw and provided further technical support for the anaerobic treatment technology of wheat straw.
