- Abstract
The article focuses on the ossification of the stylohyoid ligament, a fibrous band connecting the styloid process with hyoid bone's lesser cornu. It views on the symptoms of the ossified ligament and the elongated styloid process which include pain in the head, temporomandibular joint, and carotid artery. It indicates the methods in the diagnosis of the condition including palpation of the tonsillar fossa, using radiographs, and anesthetizing the palpated bone process area. A case of a 38-year-old negro man who had been treated of a jaw fracture is also presented.
