- Abstract
This study seeks to present an analytical vision of the dynamics of the strategic competition between the United States and China in the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea, as well as the reflection of this competition on the mutual policies and actions between the two powers. The study concluded that the United States was determined to continue protecting its interests, competing with and containing China, in addition to preventing it from expanding in the South China Sea and the Pacific, by increasing its military presence and enhancing security cooperation with its allies in the region. On the other hand, China has considered the South China Sea and the Pacific as core interests and sought to expand its influence through more naval military measures to prevent any other power from extending its influence and threatening China's maritime interests. Moreover, by making a comparison between the US and Chinese mutual perceptions and actions, the mutual threat perception between the two powers was formed.
