- Title
Ball State Is Building Nation's Largest Geothermal System.
- Abstract
The article reports on the construction of the largest closed geothermal energy system in the U.S. by the Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. It states that 2 million U.S. dollars worth of fuel costs every year will be saved by the university if the energy system will be completed. Oregon Institute of Technology geoheat director John Lund notes that their project is the largest heat-pump complex in the U.S., however up-front cost of heat pump replacement with boilers is high.
