- Abstract
The Specific objectives of this study were; to identify the degree of unemployment of rural youth in the village where the study was conducted, testing the significance of relationship between Some demographic and Socio-economic variables and the degree of unemployment of rural youth, to identify relative contribution of Some demographic and Socio-economic variables in the interpretation of variance of unemployment of rural youth degree, and to identify different views followed by rural youth to encounter unemployment phenomenon. Data were collected during August 2016. in “El-negela Village”, in Beheira Governorate. Through a personal interviews with a simple random sample of 93 respondents. Frequencies, percentages, mean .maximum, minimum, mode, SD, Z-score, simple Pearsonian correlation coefficient, Chi-square, and Step-wise regression were used for data presentation and analysis. The main findings of the study are the following:1- 54.9 % of respondents affiliated to the category of high unemployment, 24.7 % of respondents affiliated to the category of low unemployment, while 20.4 % affiliated to the category of moderate unemployment. 2- 43.1% of respondents have a high willingness to work, 49.5 % have a high capacity for work, and 79.6 % of respondents looking for work more than one way.3- Positive significant relationships were found between degree of unemployment of rural youth and: number of years spent in formal education, degree of tendency towards illegal immigration, and rationalization consumption, with correlation coefficient values 0.283, 0.308, 0.217 respectively.4- As well there are a negative significant relationships between degree of unemployment of rural youth and: loyalty to local community and total monthly family income, with correlation coefficient values - 0.274, - 0.381 respectively.5- It was found that three associated variables together contributed in explaining about 32.4% of the variation of the degree of unemployment of rural youth; those variables were: number of years spent in formal education, degree of tendency towards illegal immigration, and total monthly family income (F value 42.302). 6- 92.5% of respondents believe that the most appropriate solutions to the problem of unemployment dwell in encourage and facilitate labor to legal immigration, next, finance small projects for rural youth (89.2%), then, providing facilities to rural youth for Possess of reclaimed land (65.5%), and finally expansion in productive-families projects for rural youth (58.1%).
