- Abstract
The article presents research on political activity by women and political leadership. The candidacy of a Hispanic American woman for a city council election is examined. It was found that the candidate's discourse more strongly mirrored gender or feminist-based ideas when campaigning in Hispanic American or low income communities, but the campaign committed most of its resources to attracting the votes of middle and upper class white women. This is argued as an indication of the importance of the concept of intersectionality in political psychology research.
