- Title
Thermal lethal limits of southern hemisphere Uca crabs.

- Abstract
The thermal lethal limits have been determined for populations of tropical and temperate zone fiddler crabs (genus Uca) from the southern hemisphere. The same procedures were followed as were used for northern hemisphere populations to allow comparative studies on animals with a transequatorial distribution. In all populations studied, both the upper and lower thermal lethal limits can be correlated with habitat temperature. One species, U. rapax, extends from Florida to southern Brazil. The genotypic limits of this species is different in the various populations, and it is suggested that physiological races have evolved.
