- Abstract
The article presents a case of contact dermatitis caused due to nylon 6. Esilon-aminocaproic acid (EACA) has been widely used as a monomer of nylon 6 manufactured in Japan as well as being a potent fibrinolysin in toothpastes, soaps, cosmetics and eyedrops. Although there are only three reported cases of allergic contact dermatitis due to EACA, there could be many more undetected cases. All cases previously reported have been from eyedrops. The case presented in the article suggests great potential for women to become sensitized to EACA in Japan, where nylon is synthesized from it.
