- Title
A Sociological Theory of Objectivity.
- Authors
Fuchs, Stephan
- Abstract
The article focuses on the social and communicative aspects of objectivity. It notes that objectivity occurs when the contributions to knowledge of the knowers are lessened or dismissed in favor of the contributions of the world to that knowledge. It states that under such circumstances, objectivity becomes a matter of conduct of controlling emotions, biases and interests. It cites the conclusions derived from the constructivist critique of objectivity which views it as rhetoric and as power.
