- Title
The ongoing quandaries of behavioral pain assessment in children with neurocognitive impairment.
- Authors
VOEPEL-LEWIS, TERRI
- Abstract
The author comments on a study which found that the typical behavioral reaction to pain in children with developmental disability is unrelated and distinct from functional or developmental level. She believes that in order to validate the findings, there is a need to conduct further studies using rigorous observational methods as the data in the study were derived from caregiver reports on pain behaviors that the child typically shows and not from observed behavior during a painful event.
