- Abstract
The article examines beam-focusing method for the formation of a charged-particle beam with a hollow transverse intensity distribution using the nonlinear focusing force of multipole magnets in a beam transport line. Topics discussed include analytical expressions to predict the dynamic behavior of a beam focused with multipole magnets, results of particle tracking simulations, and experimental demonstration of various hollow beams.
