- Abstract
This document provides a summary of a research topic on heritage language (HL) acquisition, processing, and maintenance. The studies included in the research topic explore various aspects of HL bilingualism, including cross-cultural and cross-linguistic differences in speech act pragmatics, syntactic processing, and grammatical gender knowledge. The studies utilize different methodologies such as self-paced reading tasks, eye-tracking, and EEG/ERP to investigate linguistic processing in HL speakers. The findings highlight the complexity and richness of HL bilingualism and emphasize the importance of considering linguistic, cognitive, and sociocultural factors in understanding HL acquisition.
