- Abstract
The article presents a study of the sources of variation in maternal allocation in bison and the occurrence of reproductive costs and individual quality linked with differential maternal allocation. It states that heavy mothers gave a lower allocation but produced heavier calves compared to light mothers and that female calves tend to reduce allocation as they aged. It suggests that the amount of maternal allocation was positively associated among the produced offsprings.
