- Abstract
The article discusses the narrative structure and characterization of some literary works by the author Joseph Conrad. It focuses on the novels "Lord Jim" and "Chance," both of which are narrated by the character Marlow. The literary theme of suicide is discussed, and the question of whether Conrad's depiction of psychological motivation allows his characters' actions to seem plausible is addressed.
