- Abstract
The article focuses on the speculative apparatus called a "pocket wireless" which was conceived around the invention of the wireless telegraph by Guglielmo Marconi in 1899. The article discusses the existence of the pocket wireless in works of fiction, the continued expectation of the invention of the apparatus and the predictions of writer Arthur V. Abbott. The article goes on to discuss the presence of the pocket wireless in the media and the debate over its plausibility.
