- Abstract
The objective of this article is, from the film "up in the air", to illustrate a critique of the managerialist ideology that imposes a way of life of the individual in society, based on the logic of the financial market. This ideology supports the reproduction of the domination of capital over labor and legitimizes the actions resulting from this logic. The theoretical lens of Psychosociology is used because it allows the subject to be understood based on his double psychic and social determination, within this management logic. As a method of analysis, we opted for the use of film analysis, collecting the scenes for analysis through indirect and nonparticipant observation. Micro-analyzes were carried out, in which the chosen narratives were categorized. Thus, 5 categories of analysis emerged, but only two will be presented here: "Selfmanagement" and "The burden of the champion". It was possible to perceive elements in the executive's behavior, from the main character, who obeys the managerialist logic, whether they are the absence of personal ties, workaholic, loneliness, detachment, flexibility and the supremacy of professional status. It was also observed that a being was the result of a social determinism that reproduces managerialist practices in his daily life, but he also demonstrates being a subject when showing his capacity for resistance. It is noticed that he is within an ideology that governs his way of working and living, and that it is something that interferes strongly.
