- Abstract
The article discusses French artist Edouard Manet and his lithograph "Le rendezvous des chats," which appears as the cover art of this issue of the "Journal of the American Medical Association." It is stated that Manet sought the approval of members of the French art establishment. "Le rendezvous des chats" was originally created as a woodcut for a book by Manet's friend Jules Husson, also known as Champfleury. Manet's previous works depicting cats are discussed, including the painting "Olympia." Challenges in creating images of cats are described.
