Presents an editorial on the incidence of lung cancer in smokers and nonsmokers. How many cancers do not develop due to just one cause such as smoking; Other factors which may cause lung cancer such as genetics, arsenic exposure, radiation exposure and other environmental carcinogens; Belief that genetic factors contribute in all populations while the other factors are population specific; Comments on a study in this issue which looks at the relationship between smoking and arsenic exposure as a cause of cancer; Details on two studies; Belief that cigarette smoking cessation is still the best avenue to reducing cancer risk; Need for new studies.
