- Abstract
The article discusses evidence-based strategies in the management of hypertension. Evidence from small, open-label trials provide support in the use of olive oil in hypertension, wherein olive oil is used as the main fat source in the diet of hypertensive participants, as large reductions in blood pressure were observed. The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Diet that includes vegetables and fruit, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products, produced blood pressure reductions.
