- Abstract
Oligoclonal bands (OB) are generated by intrathecal inmunoglobulin (Ig) production, is immune disorder useful for the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS). So far the antigen to which they are addressed is unknown. Their presence is variable according to the population studied. Moreover, has been observed that negative OB patients have lower plasma cell activity. This suggests that a better prognosis of evolution is allowed. OB May be present in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of any disorder that interrupts the blood brain barrier, as in other, viral, bacterial diseases, brain tumors, autoimmune and lymphoproliferative. In this review, we mention their presence and relationship to the development and course of the disease.
