- Abstract
The article presents a qualitative study of evaluative research on the transformation process of five rural schools towards global education and the inclusion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Educational Project of the Center (PEC). The study shows nine phases that reflect dynamics of change to become a "Transformative School". The importance of having a committed management team and participation in training and projects as drivers of change is highlighted. The need for long-term planning that includes didactic methodology and communication with the educational community is also mentioned. Teachers highlight the lack of curriculum flexibility and the difficulty in organizing schedules as limitations. Reflection and rethinking of the teaching-learning process are necessary, but often there is a lack of time for it. The study analyzes key aspects to enhance the creation of a transformative school, such as collaboration, networking, participatory methodologies, reflection, and research. The management team is revealed as a driving and coordinating element of innovation processes, while teachers consider coordination and cohesion as requirements to develop processes of change and transformation in the school. Despite the limitations, teachers question their pedagogical culture and seek new ways to engage socially.
