News In Brief.
- Abstract
The article presents news related to the field of biotechnology. On January 25, 2005, the Argentine Agriculture Secretary drafted a bill regulating payment of royalties for genetically modified (GM) wheat and soy seeds due to be passed into law before the seeds go on sale in April 2005. The Munich-based European Patent Office (EPO) dealt fresh blows to Myriad Genetics Inc.'s controversial monopoly on diagnostic testing for mutations in human breast and ovarian cancer gene BRCA1, by limiting the scope of two remaining patents.
