- Abstract
The article discusses a study which determined the role of estrogen receptorα in growth plate cartilage for skeletal growth using a mouse model with cartilage-specific inactivation of ERα. It was shown that adult cartilage-specific ERα mice continued to grow after four months of age while there was a limited growth in control mice. It was concluded that this receptor in growth plate cartilage is not important for skeletal growth during early sexual maturation.
