- Abstract
The aim of this study was to find out usefulness of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of uterine pathological conditions in dairy cows. The study was conducted on the cows presented to the clinic of the department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner. The cows with infertility complaints were examined per rectum and then further scanned sonographically for the diagnosis of condition. Number of cases diagnosed with various uterine pathologies were endometritis (41), post-partum metritis (8), pyometra (11), mucometra (7) and early embryonic death (7). Response to treatment was also monitored ultrasonographically in the treated cows. The study revealed that ultrasonography adds valuable information in the diagnosis of uterine pathological conditions can be used efficiently for the evaluation of pathological conditions of cattle uterus.
