- Title
Putting a Stop to Sprawl: State Intervention as a Tool for Growth Management.
- Authors
Attkisson, Lesley R.
- Abstract
The article discusses the need to reform zoning laws and land use regulations to effectively combat sprawl in the U.S. It highlights the history and constitutionality of zoning in the country, and their role in guiding land use decisions. It also notes the notion that local governments are incapable of combating sprawl due to lack of authority beyond borders. Efforts of Oregon and Florida to actively engage in statewide reform are addressed.
