- Abstract
The article offers information on the implications of the failed 2002 Merger Clearance Accord in relation to the implementation of antitrust law in the U.S. It was stated that the implications of the cancellation of the merger clearance accord requires evaluation in light of the political attention of the federal antitrust agencies have attracted in recent years. Likewise, the antitrust enforcement reportedly has enormous effect on the economic, and business enterprises has a relevant financial stake in how the antitrust law is administered. Moreover, it was described that the shortcomings of the pre-clearance process in which both agencies allocate responsibility for reviewing mergers have not gone unnoticed by the legal, political and business communities.
