- Abstract
The article presents a comprehensive analysis on the assistance programs offered by the U.S. judicial system to pro se civil litigants. It examines the case of Susan Hudock, a sales representative suffering from shingles, who filed suit against her employer Aventis Pharmaceuticals Inc. pro se in July 2001. It provides background information on the right to self-representation and the approaches offered by courts, bar associations and technological resources to aid pro se litigants. In addition, a framework for an integrated and Internet-based pro se assistance programs is analyzed.
