- Abstract
The article discusses marriage patterns within the Old Colony Mennonite settlement known as La Nueva Esperanza in Argentina. The author examines the social consequences of a marriage pattern characterized by two siblings marrying with two siblings, also known as sister exchange. The article discusses kinship mores in La Nueva Esperanza, the historical tradition of colony settlers marrying a sibling's spouse's sibling (GEG), and rules associated with such arrangements.
