- Abstract
The article discusses the development and implementation of a post-revolutionary hygiene policy in the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 1930s. The Bolshevik regime promoted a program of personal as well as environmental hygiene and cleanliness and epidemic prevention measures. The author discusses the ceremonial educational efforts applied to that end through various cinematic, pictorial, and radio media. The Bolshevik's adoption of Western developed nations' sanitation and health practices under its nationalized health system is explored.
