- Abstract
The article focuses on a study on the movement of smaller molecules inside larger molecules. The study provided new insights into how to control this motion or measure the forces causing it by measuring how individual metallofullerene molecules confined inside carbon nanotubes respond to the tip of an atomic force microscope. In addition to studying the surface topography of the peapods, it also simultaneously measured the energy lost by the vibrating tip of the AFM.
