- Abstract
Father and son Joaquín Vaquero Palacios and Joaquín Vaquero Turcios were recognised architects, sculptors and painters. Nonetheless their woven textile work remains unknown today. Like many other Spanish artists, including Miró, Picasso, Tapies and Tharrats, the Vaqueros were attracted to the art of tapestry, which saw a splendid revival from the 1950s onwards. Although few in number, the Vaqueros's tapestries occupy a significant place within the renaissance of this art form in Spain.
