- Abstract
The article examines the controversy surrounding the commercial relationships between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Topics discussed include the importance of the commercial relationship to the lives of each community and the economy of the countries, role of the Treaty of Nimega during the Colonial Period in the concept of regulated binational trade, and effect of revolutions for independence, corrupt governments and political leaders on rules for formal trade between the states.
