On the Subject of Ecumenizm in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
- Authors
Lyubenova, Lizbet
- Abstract
The article discusses the development of ecumenism within the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The author explains how ecumenism helped establish ties with Bulgarian immigrants in the U.S. and led to the construction of Orthodox churches there, along with the establishment of amicable relations between the Bulgarian Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopalian, and Catholic Churches. The notion that the ecumenical movement developed following World War I is argued against. The expulsion of Bulgarian Orthodox bishops from Macedonia following World War I is also explained.
