- Abstract
In this article we investigate the problem of the employability of translation graduates from Argentine universities and delve into the notion and components of professional competence. The literature review we conducted for this study shows that the Latin American translation labor market is active, young, and constantly growing, and that the problem of employability is not exclusive to our country. To document the perspective of graduates regarding their insertion in the labor market, we conducted a survey. Although only 73 graduates participated, the data that emerged from the analysis of the curricula seem to confirm, at least preliminarily, the opinion of the respondents. The results of this study show that, despite its limitations in terms of the size of the sample and the possibilities of knowing in depth what happens in the classroom where the teaching-learning process of translation takes place, it is necessary to seek strategies to strengthen the skills and knowledge linked to professional competence to contribute to remedy the problem of employability of our graduates.
