- Abstract
The article reports a study which investigates the transmission of zoonotic epidemic of Sporotrichosis from cats to humans. The researchers explain that infection develops after traumatic inoculation of contaminated soil, plants, and organic matter into human skin or mucosa through scratches or bites from infected cats. They warn that zoonotic sporotrichosis has been on the rise, particularly in the epizootic and zoonotic epidemics taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
