- Abstract
The article discusses the Atoms for Peace initiative launched by the administration of former U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s. The goals of the initiative are mentioned including the promise to turn the horrors of nuclear war into prosperity presented by peaceful atomic power. Moreover, the role of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in atomic-energy affairs are addressed.
