- Abstract
The article offers information on the history of School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) from 1960 to 2011. It says that on May 11, 1960 the Committees on Academic and Administrative Aspects was established by the Acting University Librarian to examine the creation of a separate college for the training of librarians. It states that during the 686th meeting of the University of the Philippines (U.P.) Board of Reagents on June 14, 1961, a grant amounting to 56,795.00 U.S. dollars was allotted to the university from the Rockefeller Foundation though the American Library Association, which will be used for the creation of a graduate program in library science. It adds that on May 14, 2011, the U.P. Library Science Alumni Association (UPLSAA) held its 61st alumni homecoming.
