- Abstract
In the search for new lead free ferroelectric materials with improved properties, lithium bismuth titanate (Li0.5Bi0.5TiO3) powders were prepared by high energy mechanical alloying. The synthesized powders were pressed and sintered at different temperatures starting from 400 to 1100 °C in a conventional furnace. The sintered ceramics were characterized by X-ray diffraction to study their phase composition and microstructure. It was observed that, the lithium bismuth titanate (Li0.5Bi0.5TiO3 or LBT) ceramics changed its phase from tetragonal to orthorhombic to tetragonal within range of the studied sintering temperature. Different microstructural properties of various phases were studied and presented in this paper as a variation of sintering temperatures. To our knowledge, detailed analysis at various temperatures is presented for the first time.
