- Abstract
The author explores how history is portrayed in board games. Topics include popular recognition of historic figures such as polymath Leonardo Da Vinci, playwright William Shakespeare, and political theorist Niccolo Machiavelli; historical accuracy in games; and games such as The Princes of Florence which promotes humanistic attitudes towards social networking, the game Carcassone which portrays country life in Medieval France, and the Medieval battle game Dominion.
