- Abstract
The article presents two case reports of patients suffering from depression who were treated with antidepressant drugs. As a result, the patients developed suicidal ideation. The emergence of suicidal ideation on antidepressants highlights the fact that when given in clinical situations, there are potentially two sorts of side effects of psychotropic compounds. These are those that are clearly side effects of the drugs, such as, dry mouth or micturition, etc. The latter induced increased nervousness and restlessness. If suicidal ideation can arise consequent on a misattrition of drug induced changes, it should be possible to prevent all such suicides.
