- Abstract
The article looks at the influence of the concluding pageant in the Chester Corpus Christi Play "The Last Judgement" on the character of Faustus in play "Doctor Faustus" by Christopher Marlowe. It describes the depiction of God, good and evil in the play. The special effect used by Marlowe to emphasize the need for the damned to take full responsibility for their fates is mentioned. It notes that Faustus considers himself to be on a medieval stage during the last hour of his life.
