- Title
Isaac Walton 'Amongst the Novelists'.
- Authors
McMillan, Dorothy
- Abstract
The article focuses on a passage in the poem "Don Juan" by Lord Byron which criticizes the trend among novelists to quote author Isaac Walton and embellish the barbarity of angling. Topics discussed include the description of angling as a solitary vice by Byron, possibility that the criticism was due to readings from Walton's book "The Compleat Angler" in the novel "Marriage" by Susan Ferrier, and the commendation of the literary skills of Byron in "Marriage."
